RCD Life and Premises Saving Protection

3/6/2014

The importance of having a Residual Current Device (RCD) installed within your premises is highlighted in these photographs where this fault (screw through part of a cable) was undetected until an RCD was installed as part of a new consumer unit installation.

The life saving device which offers a level of personal protection that ordinary fuses and circuit-breakers cannot provide tripped when it sensed an imbalance between the neutral and earth wires. This fault within a socket in a family home was thankfully detected by the RCD before the cable hole increased through time and touched and exposed the red live wire where the potential of shock and fire risk would have greatly increased.

RCD's are now a very important requirement of current electrical regulations where most if not all circuits within a home should have RCD protection.

Further information on RCD's can be found at the weblink below and here at SES we offer free estimates in most circumstances if you would like us to quote for the replacement of your old fusebox with a new safer life and premises saving RCD consumer unit.

Install USB Sockets at Hotels, B&B's, Guest Houses

10/3/2014

In this day and age of smart phone and tablet computers the demand to provide WIFI in accommodation places is increasing, in fact many people place available WIFI near the top of their list for choosing where to stay.

Another small touch Hotels, B&B's and Guest Houses can add to their list of amenities is USB socket outlets in rooms.

Socket outlets in rooms are usually limited and in some cases have no available outlets after kettles, alarm clocks and table lamps are plugged in meaning it can be inconvenient to charge phones and tablets - so why not easily and cheaply swap over one wall socket to one that contains both power and USB outlets.

Contact us for more information if you wish to take advantage of this simple but effective idea that will be sure to get you a good guest review on tripadvisor.

Today we start electrical work on the refurbishment of The National Wallace Monument in Stirling.

For nearly 20 years we have carried out work at this famous historic worldwide landmark and it is a privilege to be involved in this latest refurbishment which will see new displays and features on each of the floor galleries as well as improved lighting and heating.

The Legends Coffee House and the new Gift Shop in the Reception Centre based at the car park will remain open as normal. The Monument will reopen on 5th April 2014.
